Soren Toft leaves Maersk. Become new CEO of MSC.

Maersk revealed on Monday that Soren Toft has resigned from his role as general manager, with immediate effect to chase another professional opportunity. Given Maersk’s meagre statements and Toft’s sudden resignation, it is assumed that he had obtained a high-level job with a rival.
Toft said in a recent interview that he was incredibly happy with his stay in Maersk, but at the same time wanted to test me in a new role. “I leave Maersk happy and smiling”. Toft became Maersk COO in 2014 and was responsible for the global operations of Maersk’s line operations after serving as Network Planning Manager at Maersk Line. He played a key role in the integration with the German company Hamburg Sud and was involved in the search for new sustainable fuel sources for the Maersk group.
According to Shipping Watch reports, Toft will replace Diego Aponte as CEO of MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company, the second largest container shipping company in the world after Maersk. The change is expected to be officially announced next week.
Maersk Group CEO Soren Skou, an experienced man, will take on the role of COO while looking for a successor.
