Fumigation rules Australia – New Zealand

We remind all the shippers that for shipments to Australia, from January 2019, the BMSM fumigation against the Asian bug was confirmed and strengthened, even on goods not considered to be at risk.
It is mandatory to contact certified and authorized suppliers, from the Australian Ministry of Agriculture, to carry out fumigation treatments for the elimination of Asian bugs on export containers from Italy, Germany, France, USA, Russia, Greece, Hungary, Romania and Georgia.

To allow an optimal execution of the treatment it is necessary to separate the items present inside the container so as to allow a perfect distribution of the hot air inside it and therefore of the treatment. In case of non-treatment of the cargo the export terminals could refuse the load and order fumigation on site. Hapag Lloyd announces that the treatment is mandatory for both complete and groupage containers. It is the responsibility of the customer / loader to ensure that the Australian Government’s instructions are respected and for all Special Cargo and Break Bulk fumigation certificates must be sent to customer service before the shipment is sent to the terminal.

We invite everyone to visit the Australian and New Zealand websites for more detailed information on effective treatments and load descriptions.
